After lengthy talks with the Italian club, a two-year deal worth around £2.5 million a season has seen Maurizio Sarri confirmed as the new Lazio manager.
Ex-Napoli Boss Maurizio Sarri Confirmed as Lazio Manager
Deal Until 2023
The Italian has taken over the club on a deal until 2023 following the departure of Simone Inzaghi to Inter Milan. Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed the news via his Twitter account.

Former Chelsea manager Sarri had been linked with the vacant manager job at Tottenham Hotspur, but has decided to remain in Italy after being without work since leaving Lazio’s Serie A rivals Juventus in August 2020, where he had been in charge for just over 14 months.
Lazio had an indifferent season and missed out on Champions League qualification for the 2021/22 season. Instead, they will be playing alongside Leicester City and West Ham United in the Europa League.
Cryptic Confirmation of Sarri
To confirm the appointment of Sarri, Lazio went with a cryptic tweet to tease his arrival.

A burning cigarette was the only emoji on the tweet, making reference to the well-known chain smoking habit of the new manager. As previously mentioned, Sarri replaces former manager Simone Inzaghi, who departed Lazio to take over at Inter Milan. He replaces Antonio Conte at the San Siro after he stepped down following the end of the campaign.
Lazio have been seen as a club that keeps coming close in Italy but never quite getting over the line. Sarri will be looking to change that narrative with an already talented squad at his disposal.
Sarri won the Europa League with Chelsea as well as Serie A with Juventus, and therefore Lazio fans will be looking for success to return to the club as soon as possible.
