Andrea Pirlo has officially been sacked by Juventus after an underwhelming season in the Serie A, just about qualifying for the top four. It was clear from the get go that he was not ready for such a job. The appointment should never have been made when considering Pirlo’s lack of managerial experience.
Things could have been far worse, too, with Juventus close to falling out of the top four altogether at one stage. And, it’s fair to say, one scare was too much for the hierarchy, who have since parted ways with the ex-midfielder.
Pirlo’s exit paves the way for Massimiliano Allegri to come full circle and take the job he left behind in 2019. According to Fabrizio Romano, the re-appointment of Allegri is almost a certainty.

An Ideal Replacement
The Andrea Pirlo gamble far from paid off for Juventus, who were left without a Serie A title for the first time in almost a decade, despite having the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo to turn to. Now that they have gambled away one title chance, they’ll be hoping to bet on a safer option in Allegri.
The Italian won five consecutive Scudetto’s in charge from 2014 to 2019. His reign was as dominant as it gets, and he’ll be looking to pick up where he left off. With Inter Milan also entering a period of managerial change, too, it may not be long before we see Juventus take their place back at the head of the table in the Serie A.
Allegri, himself, could so easily turn his former club down. After all, jobs at Inter Milan, the champions, Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid were available. Yet, it seems as though he has picked home comfort over the potential of a new project.
