AC Milan Want Permanent Fikayo Tomori Signing

Fikayo Tomori

AC Milan are interested in signing Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori on a permanent basis this summer. The 23-year-old has been with the club on loan since January, and scored his first Serie A goal in a 3-0 win over floundering Juventus on Sunday.

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea have set a price of £25 million for the England centre-back. Milan manager Stefano Pioli has said he would be keen for a deal to take place, with Tomori having impressed since joining the club at the turn of the year.

AC Milan Targeting £25 million Fikayo Tomori Deal

Stefano Pioli Has Spoken Highly of The Defender

After visiting Juventus and handing a 3-0 drubbing to the deposed champions, Milan manager Pioli told the media of his desire to make Fikayo Tomori a long-term feature of his defensive line. The Chelsea loanee capped off the scoring after goals from Brahim Diaz and Ante Rebic.

Pioli said: “We want to buy Tomori on a permanent deal from Chelsea. Our intention is clear, and [is] also Fikayo’s decision. We’ll see what happens at the end of the season.”

His manager’s backing also follows recent praise for Tomori, with legendary Milan centre-back Franco Baresi having lauded the defender in March of this year.

Win Over Juventus Brings Champions League Spot Closer

If Tomori does go on to re-join AC Milan ahead of next season, he will hope to be returning to a side playing in the Champions League. The weekend victory over Juventus propelled the visitors up to third in the table, level on points with second-placed Atalanta.

City rivals Inter Milan have already secured the title, ending Juventus’ nine-year stranglehold of the Serie A crown. Meanwhile, Andrea Pirlo’s side are in fifth, and face a real battle to secure Champions League football in 2021/22.
