Sunderland have today completed their fourth signing of the transfer window. Following the arrivals of Carl Winchester, Jake Vokins and Jordan Jones, head coach Lee Johnson has now added striker Ross Stewart. The striker was unveiled on Sunderland’s official club website. It is believed that the Black Cats have paid Ross County £300,000 for the 24-year-old, who has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal.

Lee Johnson Finally Adds a Striker to his Squad
Lee Johnson has made no secret of his desire to add extra firepower to his squad. Only Charlie Wyke has been in form out of his current strikers. Will Grigg has struggled since arriving two years ago and has not scored this season and Danny Graham in his second spell at the club has failed in front of goal once again. Several names have been linked to a move to the Stadium of Light but today, Johnson finally got his man. Ross Stewart arrived on Wearside for a medical and then signed a two-and-a-half-year deal.
According to the Daily Record, Sunderland beat off competition from Aberdeen, MK Dons and Rotherham United to sign Stewart. He could now make his debut against MK Dons on Tuesday night.

Speaking about his move, Stewart said: “I’m very excited and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season. When the opportunity came to come to Sunderland, I just wanted to get it done as soon as I could.
“I will give one hundred per cent in every game; I’m a very committed and hard-working player, and as a striker, hopefully, I can bring a lot of goals to the club as well.”
Johnson added: “I think Ross is a player that will be great for us in the short term, but he can also develop and improve over the long term.
“He’s at a good age, he’s very fit and quick, and he obviously has good height as well, so he has all attributes to succeed. We are very pleased to welcome him to the club.”

24-year-old striker Stewart, who is was of contract this summer at Ross County had been at the club since 2018. He becomes a key player for the team, helping them win promotion to the Scottish Premiership and has scored 28 goals in 82 appearances.
