Manchester United seem to have a new recruitment strategy. The Red Devils have splashed the cash on various young players since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was signed as manager, with deals for unproven teenagers Amad Diallo and Facundo Pellistri having the potential to reach above a collective £45 million. While it is a risky initiative, it is something that could pay off, especially with the facilities that a club like United have. All in all, Diallo and Pellistri both have an incredible amount of potential, and as the former’s move to Old Trafford has now been officially confirmed, the pair look to be the future of Manchester United’s attack.

High Potential Attackers
Both Pellistri and Diallo have incredibly high potential. The young attackers are new additions at Old Trafford, with the Argentine joining in the summer, while United had to wait until January for the arrival of Diallo. Now that both are officially at the club, fans can start to get excited about what they could bring to the Red Devils’ attack in years to come.
Facundo Pellistri was a regular starter at Uruguayan side CA Peñarol before his move to Manchester, but is yet to make a senior appearance at the Theatre of Dreams. The youngster has been a regular for the under-23s, though, with eight appearances, three goals, and an assist to his name.
Pellistri would have hoped to make his first-team debut for United in their FA Cup third-round fixture against Watford recently, but he tested positive for coronavirus just days before the match. Now, fans will hope to see him either in the next round of the competition, or alternatively in the Europa League.
If Pellistri is able to impress when he is eventually handed his first appearance for the senior side, he could have a breakthrough similar to that of Mason Greenwood last year, eventually cementing a regular place in the starting lineup.
Diallo is arguably an even more exciting prospect. The former Atalanta man has played less than ninety minutes of senior football in his life, but is already one of the most exciting prospects in world football.
Fans will hope that he gets first-team action soon after his arrival, and the president of his former side Boca Barco believes that he is coming to United to play, not to sit on the bench.
The 18-year-old has moved to Old Trafford for a hefty fee, one which could rise to more than £37 million. United clearly see a lot of talent in him, and it is important that the coaching staff don’t rush him into the first-team, and allow him to adapt to English football in the reserves should he need to.
Solskjaer Putting His Faith in Youth
Since signing as manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has put a lot of his faith into the Red Devils’ young players. Marcus Rashford has become one of the best in the Premier League under the Norwegian’s tutelage, and the likes of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Scott McTominay, both also young players, have become first-team regulars in Manchester.
Solskjaer has also overseen the first-team breakouts of Mason Greenwood and Brandon Williams. While Greenwood has since become a regular in the senior side, Williams has not seen as much men’s football this season as he did last year.
While there were–and still are–rumours that the young fullback could leave Old Trafford on loan in January, the departure of Ethan Laird on a temporary move to Milton Keynes Dons and the potential exit of Timothy Fosu-Mensah means that Williams is more likely to be kept as backup to Wan-Bissaka at right-back.
Fans of the Red Devils will hope that Solskjaer continues to trust his young players, and that Pellistri and Diallo both follow in the footsteps of Greenwood.
