When a footballer mentions their admiration for another club, it often takes mere seconds for reports to emerge that said player wants to join those clubs. But there is little chance of that happening at Liverpool as manager Jurgen Klopp stands firm on the future of Mohamed Salah.
Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp Stands Firm Over Future of Star Striker
Mohamed Salah ‘Happy’ at Anfield, According to Klopp
Speaking with Sky Sports, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has played down claims that Mohamed Salah is looking for a move away from the Premier League Champions
“Mo is in a good mood and moment, shape and that is the most important thing,” said the Liverpool boss. “You would have seen him laughing a lot [today]. The rest is nice for you to write about but internally, nothing really [to say].”
Klopp is always quick to play down media reports and tends to do so with a smile on his face, although internally he may be worried if Salah does have his head turned by the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid. The rumours emanated from an interview that the Egyptian striker gave to AS, the Madrid based newspaper, where he revealed his admiration for both clubs.
Contract Talks but an Uncertain Future
When Jurgen Klopp was asked about whether any contract talks had taken place with Salah, who has two and a half years remaining on his current deal, the German managers’ response was somewhat blunt. “We never speak [about contracts],” said the 53-year-old.
However, are ‘certain’ to offer star Salah a new contract in an attempt to fend off interest, according to Goal’s Neil Jones.
Salah in Fine Form Once More
Salah has scored 13 times in 13 games for Liverpool this season and is once more spearheading Liverpool’s charge for the title. Liverpool sit top of the table heading into the festive fixture schedule and Salah’s goals will be key if Klopp’s team are to retain the Premier League title that for so long had eluded them until last season’s triumph.
