Newcastle United have been handed two major boosts ahead of their match against Leeds United. The Magpies manager Steve Bruce has confirmed that both Ryan Fraser and Federico Fernandez will be available for Newcastle United.
Federico Fernandez and Ryan Fraser Back for Newcastle United
Great News for Newcastle United
Steve Bruce confirmed the return of winger Fraser and defender Federico Fernandez during his pre-Leeds United press conference. It’s welcoming news for Newcastle, who had several of their staff and players out following a Coronavirus breakout at their training ground.
Ryan Fraser is back in the squad after almost a month of action following a hamstring injury. Meanwhile, Fernandez was one of the several members of the Newcastle squad affected by the Covid-19 outbreak.
Speaking to the media ahead of the Magpies trip to Leeds, Bruce said to the Newcastle Chronicle: “Fernández has tested negative and he is back. The big thing we are seeing from Saturday is fatigue so we’ll see how it has left them but I’m going to make changes.
“Ryan Fraser is OK. He’s trained for the past week and a bit and it has obviously been interrupted with the time we had away from the training ground (due to Covid-19) but he is fully fit and ready to go. He will be involved.
Good Run
Despite their lack of depth, Newcastle United have conjured a great run. The Magpies have won their last two matches and are sitting comfortably in twelfth with seventeen points. A win tomorrow could see them move level on points with sixth-placed West Ham United.
Their opponents, though, have not had the best of runs late. Despite their impressive attacking display and eye-catching football, Leeds have failed to find any consistency to their run. After their impressive start, Leeds have won just one of their last four matches, seeing them slide to fourteenth in the table.
