Harry Kane and Tottenham Hotspur Have a Real Chance of Winning the Premier League

Harry Kane and Tottenham Hotspur could have hardly imagined a better start to the season. After nine games, the team has separated themselves as one of the clubs to beat. Their defeat of Manchester City on Saturday solidified their title credentials, and with other top teams struggling, this could be their year.

With the serial winner, Jose Mourinho, as manager and a devastating front line, other teams should fear Tottenham this season.

Glory Glory for Tottenham Hotspur and Harry Kane

Harry Kane Headlines a Devastating Front Three for Tottenham Hotspur.

Harry Kane and Son Heung-min have started the season on fire for Spurs. England’s captain has an astounding seven goals and nine assists in the Premier League so far.

And the main beneficiary of Kane’s playmaking has been Son Heung-min. The South Korean has nine goals in nine games as he is the second-highest goalscorer in the Premier League this season.

And that’s not all for Spurs. Gareth Bale is yet to hit his top form. The Welshman, who rejoined the club in the summer, is still recovering from an injury but has shown flashes of brilliance. This includes a wonderful header against Brighton & Hove Albion in a 2-1 win.

The truth is that no one can keep this front three out when they’re in this type of form. If Tottenham can stay solid at the back, then goals are pretty much guaranteed. This was shown in the win over City, where despite having fewer shots and being out possessed, the team was clinical.

Another great aspect for Spurs is that no team can match their front three. Liverpool are probably the closest but are held back by the non-goals of Roberto Firmino. The Brazilian continues to struggle in front of the net and has become a bit of a liability for the team.

Jose Mourinho Knows What he is Doing

One thing is true in football, Jose Mourinho wins things. He just knows what has to be done to get over the line.

And Tottenham is starting to adopt that mentality. For years, the team struggled with a so-called “Spursy mentality.” Even under Mauricio Pochettino, this emerged. An example includes a 5-1 defeat to an already relegated Newcastle United, which meant the club finished behind hated rivals Arsenal.

But, Mourinho has helped combat this mentality, shown by their gritty 1-0 win over Burnley earlier this season.

This was a classic banana skin. It was a wet, rainy, Monday night game against a team determined to hold onto a point.

But, Spurs ground a late winner through a wonderfully worked corner showing their transformation under Mourinho. And if the team continues this type of mentality, it would be foolish to bet against them.
