David Alaba appears to have moved closer to the exit door at Bayern Munich after the latest round of contract talks failed to make headway.
Christian Falk, chief football writer of German publication Bild, is reporting that this is the third round of negotiations to have broken down between the player and the Bundesliga giants.

Alaba Open to Leaving the Club For a New Challenge
Austrian international Alaba arrived at the club in 2008 and is under contract until 2021. However, Bayern’s willingness to extend the defender’s stay in Bavaria is not matched by either Alaba or his agent.
In July, it was reported that the player’s agent was demanding a contract offer of €20 million (£18 million) a year for his client to even consider staying at the club.
Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is unwilling to put forward such a proposal, meaning talks between the two parties have broken down for the third time.
Rummenigge Impatient Over Contract Situation
Before the latest round of discussions, Rummenigge told German publication SPORT1 that Alaba would need to make his mind up as to where his future lies.
“It’s no secret that contract negotiations, as always, are about finances. We have laid our cards openly on the table. Now it’s up to his agent, his father, who is also involved in the talks, and at the end of the chain David himself whether he would like to spent the next few years at this club, where he has played successfully for twelve years,” said the 65-year-old of the stalling negotiations.
28-year-old Alaba, who has successfully transitioned from a left-back into a central defender under Hansi Flick, is a nine-time Bundesliga champion with Bayern. Last season’s Champions League success means he has also won Europe’s premier club competition on two occasions since his arrival from Austria Vienna.
