Resurgent Tottenham Hotspur Take on Improving West Ham United

Resurgent Tottenham Hotspur welcome West Ham United to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as the Premier League resumes following the International break.

Two Teams in Form as Tottenham Host West Ham

David Moyes Returns for West Ham

David Moyes returns to the dugout for West Ham United having missed the last two games with COVID-19. In his absence, West Ham United have won both league games against Wolverhampton Wanderers and  Leicester City respectively. Moyes will also have defender Issa Diop available again who has also recovered from COVID-19. New signing Said Benrahma from Brentford could make his Hammers debut.

Tottenham Hotspur started their season with a poor performance and defeat at home to Everton. Since then, Jose Mourinho’s men have clicked into top gear. Demolitions of Southampton (5-2), Maccabi Haifa (7-2) and Manchester United (6-1) have seen Spurs impress while playing attacking football. Son Heung-Min and Harry Kane are in imperious form with both assists and goals and some added star quality may also appear on Sunday.

Gareth Bale Returns

The return to Tottenham Hotspur of former player Gareth Bale has created much excitement. Returning from Real Madrid on an initial loan deal, the Welshmen may feature against West Ham.

Jose Mourinho stated in his pre-match news conference: “Gareth being ready to be in the squad is a decision we are going to make tomorrow (Saturday). There is still one day to think, to reflect on what is best for the team, what is best for him, and we will arrive at a good conclusion.”

Spurs fans will hope to see Bale play some part. West Ham United and David Moyes might hope he isn’t quite ready just yet.

Predictions

With both teams in good form before the International break, this will be a tough test. West Ham have a lot of attacking power with the likes of Michail Antonio, while Spurs will look to a fast and clinical front line.

A resurgent Tottenham Hotspur will just have too much class for the Irons and run out winners by a margin of three goals to one.
