Sheffield United have completed the signing of Rhian Brewster for a club transfer record fee and becomes the club’s seventh summer signing, on a five-year deal.
The 20-year old joins with a glowing reputation for a deal worth up to £23.5 million and Liverpool are set to retain a 15 per cent sell-on clause in the striker plus a buy-back clause that is valid for the next three years.
As part of the buy-back clause, the Premier League champions are able to re-purchase the young forward for £23.5 million at any time over the next three years.
The Blades’ move for the England youth international comes after failing to score in all Premier League fixtures this season.
Several Premier League clubs had been chasing the signature of the U17 World Cup winner, including Aston Villa, Brighton & Hove Albion, Newcastle United and Crystal Palace.

Future Star
Brewster was impactful down in Wales with Swansea City as he scored ten goals during a six-month loan spell and helped the Swans reach the Championship play-offs on the final day of the season.
Despite scoring in the first leg against Brentford, Brewster and his teammates failed to help overturn a first-leg defeat, and are yet to return to the Premier League since being relegated in the 2017/2018 season.
Chris Wilder previously broke his record signing in January when they paid £22 million for Norwegian midfielder Sander Berge from Belgian side Genk.
Blades Lacking Up Front
The signing of the young forward comes with Wilder having limited attacking options. French striker Lys Mousset is out injured while new signing Oli Burke yet to get off the mark after arriving in a swap deal involving Callum Robinson. David McGoldrick is not known to be an out and out striker and only scored twice in the whole of last season.
Brewster, who won the Golden Boot at the U17 World Cup in 2017, was given limited opportunities at Anfield after suffering a serious ankle injury in January 2018 which ruled him out for an entire season.
The striker is set to link up with the U21 national side after being called up to Aidy Boothroyd’s squad and could potentially be fit to face his former club on 24th October. However, he will be unable to face Arsenal this weekend as he was not registered in time.
