Queens Park Rangers Sign Striker Macauley Bonne From Charlton Athletic

Queens Park Rangers have signed striker Macauley Bonne from Charlton Athletic. The striker arrives on a permanent deal from the Addicks and becomes QPR’s sixth summer signing.

He has signed a three-year deal at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium. There is the option to extend by a further 12 months. The deal is also subject to a medical.

Bonne spent just one season with Charlton and he couldn’t keep the club in the Championship after signing from Leyton Orient.

Bonne Joins for an Undisclosed Fee

The striker scored 12 goals in all competitions for Charlton last season, but his goals weren’t enough to prevent Charlton sliding back into League One. He showed of glimpses his quality and 11 goals in your first Championship season is a decent return.

Bonne’s arrival boosts QPR’s attack as they continue to invest in their team. The R’s are spending the money made on Eberechi Eze wisely. Bonne will compete with fellow new recruit Lyndon Dykes for the starting spot in the team. Mark Warburton will be delighted to boost his attack after losing the goals of Eze and Jordan Hugill.

Speaking to the QPR website about his move, Bonne said: “I am really pleased and happy it’s finally done. I can’t wait to get started now.

“The second I heard there was interest, my head was turned. I’ll easily say that – my head was turned straight away.

“When you look at someone like Ebere Eze, the manager here and the club must be doing something right to develop players into Premier League players.

“I am happy and proud of where I have come from and where I am today.”

Manager Mark Warburton added: “I am delighted to have him come on board.

“Macauley has already shown himself to be a proven goalscorer at this level,  and he did it with a team in the lower half of the division.

“He can score a variety of goals, he’s young, hungry and has lots of development potential in him.”
