Premier League new boys West Bromwich Albion are reportedly closing in on Benfica midfielder Filip Krovinovic. Steve Madeley of The Athletic reported earlier today that the Croatia U21 international was close to signing. The 25-year-old is no stranger to Albion having played a major part in their successful promotion campaign last season. It is believed that Krovinovic will once again sign on loan.
West Brom Close to Re-Signing Filip Krovinovic
Agreement Close for Filip Krovinovic
The exact details of the deal are yet to be disclosed. However, it is expected that Krovinovic will join once again on loan. Negotiations have lasted most of the summer with Benfica keen on a permanent transfer or at least a loan with an obligation to buy. The midfielder is not part of Jorge Jesus’ Benfica plans, and with Albion manager Slaven Bilic working within a set budget, he will be keen not to use what he has if a more suitable agreement can be made. Therefore, another loan would suit Albion.
However, this comes at a risk for Albion. Should Krovinovic do well in the Premier League and the Baggies have no option to buy, his price could soar and other clubs with bigger budgets could swoop. Whatever the finer details of the deal include, it is expected to be completed early next week according to BirminghamLive.

A Key Player for Albion Last Season
Krovinovic was a key man for Albion last season and became a favourite of manager Bilic. The midfielder, who can play in several positions, played 43 games in all competitions as the Baggies achieved promotion back to the Premier League. Initially, Kroviniovic struggled, but once he settled in his new surroundings, his performances in a deep central midfield role improved greatly. By the end of the season, he was not only a favourite amongst fans but also with his fellow countryman and manager.
Albion Need Reinforcements After Tough Start
West Brom manager Bilic will be keen to add to his squad sooner rather than later after a tough start to their return to the Premier league. A 3-0 home defeat by Leicester City was followed by a 5-2 away loss at Everton. The Baggies knew they would be in for a tough season but these two defeats along with conceding eight goals has the club bottom of the table.
