Burnley are in talks to sign Harry Wilson on a permanent deal from Liverpool, according to James Pearce of The Athletic.
Discussions have opened over the sale of the Welsh international after the signing of Diogo Jota from Wolverhampton Wanderers saw Wilson fall further down the pecking order at Anfield.
An official bid has not been made but early discussions are that Liverpool would like £20 million for the 23-year old. A switch to Turf Moor could see an end to a 14-year association between the player and club after he joined the club’s U9s.
Burnley’s current transfer record is Ben Gibson, who was signed for £15.2 million from Middlesbrough in 2018.
The winger did impress during his time on the south coast on loan at Bournemouth, playing 35 games and scoring seven goals, despite the club getting relegated to the Championship.

Leeds Cool Interest
Leeds United boss Marco Bielsa has ruled out a move for the 23-year old winger after not wanting to meet the valuation of £20 million. Leeds see the player’s value at £16 million and are not willing to go further.
The Yorkshire side have been front-runners for the winger all window, but it seems Burnley edged in front after holding firm discussions. It is rumoured that Bielsa has turned his attention to Manchester United’s Daniel James.
Ismaila Sarr to Liverpool?
As reports link Harry Wilson with a move away from Liverpool, all eyes turn towards Jurgen Klopp’s reported interest in Watford’s Ismaila Sarr.
It is thought Liverpool had enquired about the Senegalese and is seriously being considered as Klopp looks to bolster his options off the bench. Reports from France Football suggest that the Reds have agreed a fee of between €35-40 million with the Championship side.
The Anfield club are also looking to move on Rhian Brewster while Burnley are also close to agreeing a deal for Brighton & Hove Albion’s Dale Stephens.
