Leicester City Have Third Offer for Wesley Fofana Rejected
Main Target
The 19-year-old Frenchman is City’s main target as Brendan Rodgers attempts to bring in a defender before the transfer window closes.
However, up until now, all their attempts to sign the teenager have been turned down by the Ligue 1 club and their manager, former Foxes boss, Claude Puel.
Fofana himself is open to a move to the Premier League and the King Power Stadium, although currently his club and manager are steadfast in their desire to hold on.
Even with the inclusion of a 10 percent sell-on fee included in the most recent offer.
Fofana Admits Leicester Desire
In a recent interview also with L’Equipe, the Marseille born defender admitted he “would be crazy” to ignore an opportunity to move to the East Midlands, going on to say it would be a transfer that “could change his life”.
Fofana has played 29 senior matches for Saint-Etienne, including the first three of the current campaign. He has helped his side keep a clean sheet across all the opening fixtures – leaving his side top of Ligue 1.
New Contract Hinders Foxes Hopes
The wanted teenager signed a new deal with his club in April, leading to difficulties for the Foxes. The report in L’Equipe claims Puel is not entertaining the idea of him leaving until next summer.
A new centre-back is Rodgers’ priority as the end of the window approaches. The squad has Caglar Soyuncu, Jonny Evans, Wes Morgan, and Filip Benkovic. The latter duo are likely to be lesser used, owing to Morgan’s advancing years and Benkovic’s lack of experience.
The Foxes have also been linked with a move for Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah and Burnley’s James Tarkowski, should they be unable to land Fofana.
