La Liga club Real Valladolid have signed the 2019/20 Austrian Bundesliga Golden Boot winner Shon Weissman. The Spanish club announced their new signing on Monday as they look to bolster their attacking options.
Weissman was a proven goal scorer last season, with 30 goals in 31 appearances for Wolfsberger AC.

A Much-Needed Signing
This is a great addition to Valladolid’s squad ahead of the 2020/21 La Liga campaign. They struggled to score last season, with only 32 goals coming in 38 matches. Only relegated clubs Leganes and Espanyol scored fewer goals during the La Liga season.
Valladolid did not have a goalscorer last season who reached double digits. Sergi Guardiola was the closest with eight goals, as he accounted for 25% of their league goals.
Weissman has the opportunity to enter into the squad and make a difference from the start. He’s proven he can score goals at a consistent rate in Austria. Although it’s unlikely he will be able to match his 30 goal total from last season, he’s certainly a player capable of scoring 10 goals or more.
Goal Machine
The 24-year-old Israel international burst onto the scene in Austra’s top division last season. His performance at Wolfsberger was by far the most impressive of his career. It only took him one season at the Austrian club to earn a place on a La Liga squad.
Valladolid appears to be the perfect entry into a higher quality league for Weissman. They are a mid-table club that have struggled to score goals. This will be their third season in La Liga since earning promotion three years ago. Since then they’ve gone on to finish in 16th and 13th place.
Weissman can only help Valladolid during the upcoming campaign. They need a consistent goal scorer and he’s the right man for the job. His contributions could very well be the reason why Valladolid stay in La Liga at the end of the season.
