After showing the door to Gonzalo Higuain, Sami Khedira, and Blaise Matuidi so far this summer, Andrea Pirlo looks set to turn his attention to incoming players, reportedly starting with Schalke’s Weston Mckennie. According to Fabrizio Romano, a £3 million loan plus an £18 million option will be agreed between the two clubs.
The 21-year-old will arrive as one of the best prospects to come from Schalke, following in the footsteps some truly world class players before him.
Weston Mckennie Set for Juventus Move
Massive Move for Mckennie
Since joining Shalke and, ultimately, shining brightest amongst a fairly average squad, Weston Mckennie has been linked with a move away from Germany.
Now, three years on from arriving, the American looks set to receive that big move in the form of arguably Italy’s biggest club, Juventus. The young fullback, according to reports, will link up with Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the best players to grace the beautiful game.
The competition will be fierce under Andrea Pirlo and against the plethora of talent in the Juventus midfielder, but Mckennie possesses all the attributes to eventually succeed in Italy.
Piro the Perfect Teacher
As a retired central midfielder himself, Andrea Pirlo should become the perfect teacher for Weston Mckennie. The Italian legend turned Juventus manager previously blessed us all with his expert passing, and unique calmness in the most frantic of situations; there is no better-equipped man to teach the reportedly incoming American than Pirlo.
As for Mckennie, alongside the likes of Christian Pulisic, could become an American legend by forming their best men’s team yet. At the age of 21, too, he still has his whole career ahead to reach the summit of football.
This transfer, if it does get completed, could be the start of a truly incredible career for the American midfielder.
