REPORT: Hector Bellerin Offered to Paris Saint-Germain

Bellerin

Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin, has been offered to French giants Paris Saint-Germain, according to RMC Sport and The Times. This comes after the French club saw first-choice right-back Thomas Meunier leave for Borussia Dortmund in June.

Despite being Arsenal’s first choice right-back, the Bellerin is reportedly part of a list that Arsenal are considering off-loading this Summer. The 25-year-old is contracted until 2023, but Arsenal will be inclined to let him go, if the price is suitable.

Paris Saint-Germain Offered Bellerin

Paris Saint-Germain in Need of a Right-Back

Ahead of the 2020/21 Ligue 1 campaign, a right-back will be high up on Thomas Tuchel’s priority list. Thomas Meunier’s departure, and the apparent inexperience of French international Colin Dagba, means that the French giants are in need of first-choice right-back.

The lack of options in that department left centre-back Thilo Kehrer with a tough night in the Champions League final. A task that proved to be too much for the German, with Kingsley Coman running the show in Lisbon.

Would Arsenal Really Be Willing to Sell?

It would certainly raise a few questions if this deal was to go through. Bellerin is Arsenal’s vice-captain and, at 25 years old, is coming into his prime. The Gunners also only have one direct alternative in that position in Cedric Soares.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles has also shown he can fill in at right-back, but with increasing speculation the Englishman’s future in North London, Arsenal may need to consider their options ahead of the season.

There has been concerns over Bellerin’s ability to compete at the highest level after constant injury concern. But, the fact remains, he is one of the more experienced players in what is a young Arsenal dressing room. The 25-year-old may be given one last chance yet in an Arsenal shirt to play a permanent role in the Mikel Arteta project.
