REPORT: Nottingham Forest Set to Sign Lyle Taylor

Nottingham Forest are set to announce Lyle Taylor as their latest signing. The striker will pen a three year deal with the club, as confirmed by Daniel Taylor for the Athletic.

The 30-year-old left Charlton Athletic before the resumption of the Championship having deciding not to play out the remain games.

Second Summer Signing

Taylor becomes Forest’s second summer signing after the club snapped up Jack Colback from Newcastle United.

Despite a seventh-placed finish last term, goals were something Forest struggled with compared to other teams in the Championship. In fact, only eight sides scored less all season.

The acquisition of Taylor will help boost the goal tally next season. The striker scored 11 goals from 22 Championship appearances for Charlton last season and scored 36 from 67 outings during his two seasons at the Valley.

Despite a number of loan spells and one season stints at a variety of clubs, it was at AFC Wimbledon where Taylor really showcased his capabilities. In three years, the striker netted 55 times from 150 appearances as the Dons secured promotion from League Two.

The Right Move for Taylor?

Having decided to turn down Charlton for the remainder of the season, many reactions are that of surprise to see Taylor remain in the Championship.

The striker said his dream was to play at the highest level he can, and this was behind his decision to leave when he did. The striker wasn’t willing to risk picking up an injury before a summer move ahead of what he hoped would be a “life-changing move”.

It’s what is a double blow for the Addicks. Not only did they lose their top scorer just weeks before the season finished, but the club also suffered relegation back to League One just one season after winning promotion.
