What Was Said

Speaking about Dryden’s return, Mark Cooper said: “I’ve known Richard for a long time and we’ve worked together before so I know what he brings.”

“I can trust him; he’s a really good guy and I’m looking forward to working together again. He’s played at the top level as a centre-back and he can pass that experience on. Richard is  also going to do some detailed work to make us more effective at set-pieces.”

Forest Green’s new assistant manager had a stellar playing career. Starting at Bristol Rovers, Dryden went on to play for the likes of Birmingham City, Notts County, Stoke City and Southampton.

He transitioned into coaching and made a name for himself in that sense. Dryden has been a coach at several times including Worcester City, Darlington and York City. He knows the club and is ready to help Forest Green’s promotion bid next season.

Speaking to the club’s website about his return, Dryden said: “I’ve known Mark (Cooper) a long time, I’ve played and worked with him at different clubs, so this is a perfect fit”

“I’m looking forward to coaching with him again and working with players, who have great ability and potential.”
