Blackpool have made their fourth summer signing. The Tangerines have signed striker Jerry Yates on a permanent deal from Rotherham United.

Yates’ arrival continues Neil Critchley’s squad revamp as he targets a promotion charge next season.

Yates Arrives on a Permanent Deal From Rotherham United

Blackpool announced via their website they had signed the striker. Yates arrives for an undisclosed fee and has signed a three-year deal at Bloomfield Road.

Yates is a product of the Rotherham academy and made just shy of 50 appearances for the Millers. But Yates really made his name on loan at Swindon Town last season. Yates formed a formidable partnership with Eoin Doyle as they fired Swindon to the League Two title and promotion.

He scored 14 goals in 30 games for the Robins and he will be hoping that form continues in a higher division. Blackpool won the race for the in-demand striker with several clubs chasing the prolific striker’s signature.

Yates’ arrival continues Blackpool boss Neil Critchley’s revamp. The tangerines endured a disappointing second half of the season which saw their promotion bid end. Yates follows Keshi Anderson, Marvin Ekpiteta and Oliver Sarkic in joining Blackpool so far this summer.

He will replace the departed Armand Gnanduillet who left at the end of his contract. Yates will hope to fill the void left by the big striker. Gnanduillet notched 15 league goals prior to the curtailment of the season.

Yates Buzzing to Join Blackpool

Speaking to the Blackpool website about his move, Yates said: “I’m buzzing to get this over the line and sign for Blackpool.”

“I’ve known about the interest for a while now, so to finally be here is a great feeling. This is an exciting Club with a huge fanbase and a big vision for the future.”

“I’m ready and waiting to help the Club succeed and I can’t wait for what’s to come.”

Manager Neil Critchley added: “I’m delighted that Jerry has decided to join us at Blackpool.”

“He works tirelessly for the team and is exactly the kind of player we need to continue moving the Club forward. He’s honest and has a tremendous work ethic, which is something I’m sure our supporters will identify with.”

“His goal scoring record, particularly last season, was excellent, and we’re delighted to welcome him to Bloomfield Road.”
