Championship side Brentford have confirmed the departures of nine players. One of those is from the first-team, while the other eight will depart the side’s B team.
Nine Players Leave Brentford
Shaibu Leaves the Bees
Twenty-two-year-old striker Justin Shaibu leaves the Bees having spent four years with the club. He joined in 2016 from Danish side HB Koge but only made six league appearances for the West London side.
He had a loan spell with Walsall in the second half of the 2017/18 season which yielded zero goals in 14 outings. However, he had much more success in his two spells with National League club Boreham Wood.
The first one in 2018/19 saw Shaibu hit nine goals in 40 matches, and he added another five in a second loan this season, which helped Wood into the play-off places, where they will host FC Halifax Town in the eliminator.
Speaking about Shaibu’s departure, head coach Thomas Frank told the club website: “I want to thank Justin for his hard work and efforts during his time here with us.
“Unfortunately, things didn’t work out the way that Justin, or we, would have preferred. We strongly believe that Justin will have a good career ahead of him and we hope that he finds a Club which will help him achieve that.”
Host of B Team Players Depart
Reece Cole and David Titov were both part of the previous youth set-up with the club before they transitioned to the B team model. Cole has had loan spells in League Two and spent this season in Scotland with Partick Thistle. Titov, meanwhile, is the highest appearance maker for the B team, scoring five times in 103 appearances.
Jaden Brissett also leaves having spent 18 months with the B team, while winger Matej Majka leaves after two years.
Finally, Jonny Mitchell, Nick Tsaroulla, Cole Dasilva and Jayden Onen have also not seen their contracts renewed.
