Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 31+ Preview

Fantasy Premier League

Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 31+ is almost upon us, with a full set of fixtures starting from this Tuesday. FPL managers without wildcard need to be very careful with their transfers from now on. Let’s find out the best options for this gameweek.

Quick Tips

With no home support, better teams are more likely to win no matter the venue. Only two home wins have been registered out of eight matches so far. Hence, it would be prudent to look more at the form before making a transfer decision.

Goalkeepers

Dean Henderson will be ineligible to face his parent club Manchester United this week. His owners will be forced to rely on their backup keepers this week. Those with Bernd Leno will need a replacement after the German suffered a serious-looking injury against Brighton & Hove Albion.

The fixtures seem kind for David de Gea for the rest of the season. However, he does not make that many saves, so one would be dependent on him keeping clean sheets. This week’s opponents, Sheffield United are hardly pushovers. However, they will be missing a few players and will be playing their third game in quick succession. Hence, the Blades might be a bit tired.

Nick Pope has generated the second-most points for a goalkeeper this season. His fixtures are decent, but how Burnley will perform in this new crowd less environment is up for debate.

Martin Dubravka could be a solid option. Newcastle United are quite good at the back, and the Slovakian has done well so far this season. He has a good run of fixtures as well.

Rui Patrício has kept five clean sheets in his last six matches. If one can spare a Wolves player’s slot, he could be a brilliant option. Kasper Schmeichel is also worth a shout.

Defenders

Matt Doherty is one of the most lethal defender options right now. He poses an attacking threat like a winger and with the solid Wolves defensive record, he can rack up monster scores. In fact, he has hit double digits five times this season. That is quite amazing for a defender. Doherty is a crucial pick this week at home to struggling Bournemouth. Romain Saïss is a cheap option from Wolves. The Moroccan has cemented a starting spot this season and poses a threat in set-piece situations as well.

The Leicester City defenders are all worth a shout. James Justin looked good against Watford and is the cheapest option from their side.

Jamal Lascelles and Federico Fernández have a good chance of a clean sheet so should be considered. Those with some extra units lying around could look at Matt Ritchie too. Similarly, defenders from Burnley are also worth keeping in mind.

Crystal Palace have a good record against the top teams, but one should definitely not take out Trent Alexander-Arnold from their sides.

Midfielders

Bruno Fernandes is in absolutely sensational form and against a depleted Sheffield United defence, he should be a must. Anthony Martial is also worth considering.

Leicester City midfielders should be in your mind too. Harvey Barnes and James Maddison are probably the best options.

Tottenham Hotspur face one of the weakest teams in the league right now in West Ham United. Spurs are clear favourites going into this match and Heung-Min Son is the top choice from their midfield. Dele Alli will be back. Steven Bergwijn is one to watch as well.

Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane definitely will be expected to deliver the goods for Liverpool in a match that could see them crowned champions.

Despite a tough trip to Chelsea, Kevin de Bruyne can do well. One should not drop the Belgian.

Strikers

Jamie Vardy had a poor match at Watford but Brighton should provide more chances for him. He will be looking to add to his impressive goals tally this season.

Marcus Rashford is someone worth considering for the rest of the season. Manchester United have kind fixtures coming up. Rashford has become somewhat of a national hero so one could feel good about having him and wishing him to do well.

Harry Kane did not look that good against Manchester United. However, he should have more chances against the Hammers. His price will deter potential buyers though.

Danny Ings was the most transferred out player last week which proved out to be a blunder as he racked up a massive 11 points against Norwich City. Ings has a good record against Arsenal. He will fancy his chances against the shaky Gunners defence.

Raúl Jiménez is one of the most consistent players in the league at this moment. He almost always contributes. Just try to get him would be the advice. Diogo Jota is also a decent option.
