Wolves To Host Forest Behind Closed Doors
Sabri Lamouchi’s promotion-chasing Reds are to prepare for the Championship’s restart with a test against Premier League opposition.
The Reds will travel to Wolves for a behind closed doors friendly as preparations ramp up ahead of football’s resumption.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are into their fourth week of training with players recently returning to contact sessions.
Both sides are looking to build up their match sharpness ahead of competitive football resuming later this month.
The Daily Mail claims that the two sides will meet at Molineux on June 9 – although nothing has been officially confirmed yet.
If the fixture goes ahead as reported, it will be Wolves’ first game at Molineux since a 0-0 draw with Brighton on March 7.
Coverage of the fixture is expected to be limited with only Wolves and Forest’s personnel allowed into the stadium.
The report continues to claim that Nuno has not yet completed an 11-a-side game in training, instead focusing on small-sided matches.
Guidelines For Friendlies
News of a potential friendly comes soon after Premier League clubs were allowed to play against nearby opponents.
Strict regulations mean players must travel to fixtures in their own cars, possibly wearing their kit ahead of kick-off.
There will also be rules on parking, as well as entry and exit from the ground to ensure social distancing is maintained where possible.
The full rules are:
- clubs are forbidden from travelling for further than 90 minutes (clubs such as Newcastle will be granted special dispensation if they have to travel further)
- all players must travel in their own cars, possibly in their kits
- no official referees will be allowed, members of the coaching staff will officiate
- full risk assessments of the stadium/training ground must be completed before fixtures
