AC Milan are set to sign Wigan Athletic defender Antonee Robinson, according to Fabrizio Romano. The young defender will arrive on a permanent deal for a fee in the region of £10 million.

Robinson will provide competition for current first-choice left-back Theo Hernandez. He will also fill the void left by Ricardo Rodriguez, who has left to join Dutch side PSV Eindhoven. Robinson has been excellent for Wigan Athletic despite their struggles in the Championship this season.
AC Milan have been tracking the defender for several weeks and now they have their man. They are ready to give him game time and compete for the left-back slot.
The 22-year-old began his career at Everton but never made a senior appearance for the Toffees. The defender spent time on loan at Bolton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic before joining the latter permanently.
The defender has made over 50 appearances for the club since joining the Latics in 2018. He has impressed many clubs and now he will get a chance to play for one of Europe’s biggest clubs.
AC Milan see the youngster as a future star of their team and certainly, he will hope he can make a real impact.
His Wigan performances have also caught the eye of the United States national team. Robinson has made seven appearances for the US since making his debut in 2018.
His departure is a huge blow for Wigan who are fighting to stay in the Championship. However, AC Milan have offered them a terrific deal which clearly is too hard to resist.
The Latics are expected to replace him before Friday night’s deadline. He could make his AC Milan debut against Hellas Verona on Sunday.
