Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 17 Preview

Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 17 sees the commencement of the FPL Cup. Congratulations to everyone who has qualified. Hopefully, this article will help you progress into the next round.

Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 17 Picks

Goalkeepers

Kasper Schmeichel is the highest-scoring goalkeeper on FPL. He has a good chance of a clean sheet this week as Leicester City host struggling Norwich City.

Nick Pope has had a torrid time of late. However, he is facing Newcastle United at home. Burnley‘s record is pretty decent against mid-table to lower-ranked teams so they could get back to winning ways this week.

Defenders

Ricardo Pereira, Çaglar Söyüncü, Jonny Evans and Ben Chilwell are fantastic options from an in-form Leicester City side. Most FPL managers are probably lamenting the three players maximum per side rule set by the game. They have a couple of really tough games coming up after this week though.

Jürgen Klopp’s rotation policy in recent weeks will worry the owners of Liverpool’s defensive assets. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson are fantastic options at home to Watford normally but will either or both of them ride the pine this week? Dejan Lovren’s injury might simplify matters though. With Joel Matip already out, Joe Gomez will have to come in for Lovren which will ensure a start for Trent Alexander-Arnold. Robertson does not really have a proper backup but with the massive number of matches Liverpool have to play this season, he also needs a rest sometimes. It will be really interesting to see the starting lineup of Liverpool this Saturday. Alexander-Arnold is just one booking away from a suspension. In addition, Gameweek 18 will be a blank week for Liverpool.

Keeping a clean sheet against Aston Villa might be tricky for Sheffield United. However, John Lundstram might get some attacking points this week.

Midfielders

James Maddison is the standout pick from Leicester this week. He will be facing his former side so he should be raring to impress.

Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling are both fantastic options this week. They were both benched for the midweek Champions League match and will be fresh to pounce on the terrible defence Arsenal possess.

Sadio Mané and Mohamed Salah both could rack up monster scores against Watford, provided they get to start.

James Ward-Prowse, Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic, Anthony Martial and Wilfried Zaha are also worth considering as well.

Strikers

Jamie Vardy just cannot stop scoring. He already has 16 goals to his name this season and has scored in the last eight matches. Facing Norwich at home, one just has to captain him this week.

There is a chance this week for Divock Origi to get a start. He could be a great one-week punt for the brave.

Gabriel Jesus could exploit Arsenal’s shaky defence this week and build on his hat-trick from the midweek Champions League match.

Tammy Abraham should be a good option as well at home to struggling Bournemouth.

Marcus Rashford is in superb form and will look to punish Everton. Despite their win last week against Chelsea, this match should see the home side prevail. FPL owners of Rashford will be expecting a goal or two from him for sure.

Danny Ings has been in fine form for Southampton with a goal each in his last five matches. He has a really great fixture against West Ham United this week so his owners will be hoping for that goal-scoring run to continue.
