Antoine Kombouare Gets Dream Start in Charge of Toulouse

Antoine Kombouare

Another pulsating round of Ligue 1 matches has come to an end, with plenty of talking points and exciting action. Paris Saint-Germain end the tenth round of matches with a five-point lead at the top after their four closest rivals all lost. As well, Antoine Kombouare made a dream start in charge of Toulouse, collecting a win over Lille. Rudi Garcia’s reign at Lyon, meanwhile, began with a goalless draw with Dijon.

Antoine Kombouare off to Perfect Start at Toulouse

Toulouse Collect Crucial Win Against Lille

Antoine Kombouare enjoyed a terrific start in charge of Toulouse as they collected a narrow victory over Lille in a game where an out-of-form Toulouse faced a side on a five-match unbeaten run.

Both sides created chances in an open, entertaining contest. It was Toulouse who struck first courtesy of Yaya Sanogo, who headed Mathieu Dossevi’s cross into the bottom corner. Kombouare’s debut soon got better when Max Gradel converted a penalty following a handball by Jeremy Pied. Despite a late goal from Jose Fonte, Toulouse held out for victory.

That result sees Toulouse came out of the relegation zone and up to 15th. Lille drop to seventh place and remain winless on their travels.

Monaco Edge Out Rennes in Thrilling Contest

Monaco collected a third straight home win as they edged out a pulsating contest with Rennes. Wissam Ben Yedder’s brace helped secure Monaco a third win in four games while Rennes are now winless in seven.

Monaco opened the scoring after just three minutes when Ben Yedder fired the ball into the net. However, the visitors rallied and soon turned the match around as Faitout Maouassa and Adrien Hunou scored.

Islam Slimani made it two apiece after Cesc Fabregas put him through on goal and Monaco thought they had won it when Keita Balde scored, but it was ruled out for handball. However, the home side were not to be denied as Ben Yedder scored a brilliant volley deep into stoppage time.
