Police And Birmingham City Fans Clash
Dreadful Scenes
Birmingham City fans had to be forcefully separated as supporters clashed with police and stewards.
The scenes came following the Blues’ 1-0 defeat to Leeds United at Elland Road.
Birmingham were beaten by Kalvin Phillips’ second-half goal.
As the hosts celebrated winning on a day marking their club’s centenary, the mood turned after the final whistle.
Footage shared by fans on Twitter showed police and stewards getting involved.
A fan was seen being forcefully dragged out of the stand to be handcuffed on the pitch.
One spectator tweeted:
Disgusting bahaviour from Birmingham City supporters. The Leeds fans have not responded to their provocations and have walked away. Police and stewards have been attacked and suffered the brunt of the violence. Lots of arrests taking place of Brum fans. #MOT #LUFC #LEEBIR

Supporters from both Leeds United and Birmingham exchanged words before it descended into ugly scenes.
Blues boss Pep Clotet said afterwards: “Of course you don’t want violence in the game anywhere.
“I just hope that no-one is hurt and calmed down as much as possible.
“You come to football to enjoy it and have a good day.”
BBC Radio WM presenter Richard Wilford, who was reporting on the game at Elland Road and witnessed the scenes, said: “It did escalate to being some of worst violence I’ve seen for a considerable period of time inside a football ground.”
The Blues are yet to release a statement in relation to the events.
Birmingham City are back in action on Tuesday night when Blackburn Rovers travel to St Andrew’s in the Sky Bet Championship.
