Latest European Transfer Rumours
Arsenal Latest: Upamecano and Mesut Ozil
According to Metro sources, Arsenal have seen their first offer for Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano rejected. The Gunners reportedly offered £40 million for the French under-21 international, but that is less than half his £92 million release clause.
The German side have no intention of letting him leave this summer and will hold out for the full fee. Arsenal have been very active in the transfer window this summer, but are yet to strengthen their defence.
Alex Richards of The Mirror, meanwhile, writes that DC United are considering trying to bring Mesut Ozil to the MLS. With star-man Wayne Rooney joining Derby County as player-coach in January, the American side want a new icon to replace him.
Ozil is Arsenal’s highest earner, earning around £350k a week. The club have considered selling him this summer, but his wages were a stumbling block to any negotiations.
PSG Offering Neymar Services
As written in Sport, Paris Saint-Germain are determined to let Neymar leave this summer, even on loan. As such, they have offered his services to three European clubs; Manchester United, Juventus and Real Madrid. One notable absentee from this list is Barcelona, whom the Brazilian pines for, and who were in talks all summer. This is due to reported bad blood between the two sides.
Whether or not any of these three sides would be interested in the Brazilian is unclear, especially due to his astronomical wages. Juventus and Real Madrid are still battling to sign Paul Pogba, and Manchester United likely won’t afford it until he leaves. So, Neymar remains in limbo for the time being.
Everton Close on Djibril Sidibé Loan
Simon Jones of Mail Online writes that Everton are close to signing Monaco’s Djibril Sidibé on loan. The 27-year-old defender was part of the France side that lifted the World Cup last summer.
He made 26 Ligue 1 appearances for Monaco last year. Primarily a right-back, he can operate on either flank of the defence. Marco Silva sees him as ideal competition for Seamus Coleman in Everton’s defence.
Transfer Rumours: Dybala’s Wage Demands Could Be Stumbling Block For Spurs
According to James Whaling of The Mirror, Paulo Dybala’s wage demands could come in the way of his move to Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs and Juventus agreed a £69 million fee for the Argentine forward, and now need to agree personal terms with Dybala.
Wages were thought to have come between Manchester United and Juventus when he was linked to Old Trafford. Dybala will reportedly demand £300k a week, making him Spurs’ highest-paid player.
This would demand a restructuring of their wage system, which Daniel Levy may be unwilling to provide. However, they would have seen the disagreement with Manchester United officials, and if they weren’t put off, they could yet seal this deal.
