Ben Reeves Re-Signs For MK Dons

Ben Reeves

MK Dons have re-signed former midfielder Ben Reeves after his release from Charlton Athletic this summer. Reeves initially joined the Dons in 2013 but left at the end of the 2016/17 season to sign for the Addicks. However, following his release, he had been playing with the Dons in the second half of their pre-season campaign, with a move to re-sign the midfielder largely approved by fans.

Second Time Around

Reeves initially signed for MK Dons from Southampton in 2013 having spent two spells on loan at Southend United. He quickly established himself as a first-team regular in his first campaign and even scored twice in the 3-3 draw against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup – a trophy which the Latics were the current holders of at the time, and was part of the side that magically overcame Manchester United.

Overall, Reeves played 135 times in his first spell and scored 32 goals. He was an integral part of the Dons’ promotion to the Championship in 2014/15 and was one of the few shining lights in that second-tier season.

He becomes the club’s eighth signing of the summer and will don the number seven shirt, as confirmed at the squad presentation evening where the signing was confirmed.

What They Said

Speaking to the MK Dons website about his return, Reeves said: “I came here, mainly just to get fit, but at the same time I was interested to see what it was like here. I wasn’t expecting anything to happen and I’m not sure the club were either but it just grew and I think it’s worked out well for both parties.

“I can’t wait to get going again. I pretty much enjoyed every minute of my time here before. That promotion-winning season stands out, of course, as does the Manchester United game. I want to add those memories and go one better if we can.”
