Latest Premier League Transfer Rumours
Solskjaer Makes Maguire Demand
According to Jack Otway of the Evening Standard, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has demanded that Harry Maguire be signed as quickly as possible. The England international’s transfer saga has been one of the stories of the summer, and Solskjaer wants a conclusion. Jose Mourinho wanted the Leicester City defender last year, but Woodward vetoed a move, as it was too expensive. Now the Red Devils are again chasing his signature.
Manchester United conceded 54 goals last season, finishing in sixth place in the Premier League. A centre-back was clearly a priority this summer, and with just two weeks remaining of the transfer window, time is running out. Maguire enjoyed a successful season with Leicester last year, finishing ninth. Whether or not Woodward will meet the Foxes’ £80 million valuation is another question.
Tottenham Linked With Dybala Move
Rich Jones of The Mirror claims that Paulo Dybala has green-lit an exit from Juventus this summer. The Argentine star was the centre-piece of Juventus’ kit reveal, but has declared his stance after talks with new boss Maurizio Sarri. The 25-year-old has become a victim of Cristiano Ronaldo‘s move to Italy, scoring just five times in Serie A last year.
This comes after earlier news from Dan Kilpatrick of the Evening Standard that Spurs were pursuing his signature. The London side face competition from Manchester United, but Argentine Mauricio Pochettino is a big admirer of his compatriot. Spurs would have to smash their transfer record again, with Dybala valued at £80 million.
Everton Line Up Gueye Replacement
According to Simon Jones of Mail Online, Everton have made contact with German club Mainz over the transfer of Jean-Philippe Gbamin. With the Toffees reportedly interested in Wilfried Zaha, they are also pursuing new defensive options. They will likely lose Kurt Zouma, as he returns to Chelsea, and Idrissa Gueye looks set to leave for Paris Saint-Germain.
Gbamin is a versatile player, able to operate in midfield and defence. The 23-year-old’s agent has spoken out about the ‘exciting’ prospect of joining a Premier League team. Gbamin was with the Ivory Coast team that made the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Transfer Rumours: Newcastle To Return for Saint-Maximin
After shattering their transfer record with Joelinton, Newcastle are set to make another move, this time for Allan Saint-Maximin. Damian Burchardt of The Sun reports that Newcastle will make a third bid of £20 million to sign the Nice winger. The French side were reportedly holding out for £25 million for the man who was on Arsenal’s radar.
The Frenchman averaged 13.75 dribbles per 90 minutes last season, more than Lionel Messi or Eden Hazard. However, his end product leaves more to be desired. He scored six goals and contributed five assists in 36 appearances for Nice. If he can boost his numbers in front of goal, Newcastle could have a very potent attack on their hands next season.
