Career So Far

Fahrmann came through the youth ranks at Schalke before being put into their second team. He made 39 appearances for them between 2007 and 2009 before being promoted to the senior side, but he only made three outings before moving to Eintracht Frankfurt.

The goalkeeper appeared six times for Frankfurt’s second team and 18 times for the first team in a two-year spell before returning to Schalke in 2011 after they sold Manuel Neuer to Bayern Munich.

One of the biggest moments of his career came upon his return to Schalke – saving two penalties in the shootout of the DFL-Supercup, allowing Schalke to lift the trophy for the first time.

Fahrmann initially lost the first-choice berth to Timo Hildebrand at the start of the 2013/14 season, but regained the spot when Hildebrand suffered an injury. He exceeded the 200-appearance mark for the club earlier this year during a home defeat to his former club, Eintracht, in the DFB-Supercup.

What They Said

In his first interview with the Norwich City club website, Fahrmann said of the move: “I’m really glad and proud to sign here. To be a part of the Premier League, I think it’s a wonderful thing for all, not only for me but also for the fans and supporters of Norwich City.

“There were a few clubs who showed interest in me, but Norwich gave me a very familiar feeling and that was the reason why the decision was easy for me.”

He continued: “I was at my old club for a really long time, over 14 years, and it felt like it was time for something new.

“Therefore, it was the perfect time now with Norwich in the Premier League. I’ve heard only the best things about the city and I’m looking forward to getting to know Norwich better.”
