Luciano Vietto Spending Season at Fulham on Loan

The Argentine joined Atlético Madrid in 2015 for somewhere in the region of £18m. However, the 24-year-old is finding opportunities limited under Diego Simeone.

After setting La Liga alight in the 2014-2015 season with 12 goals, Vietto earned a move to the capital city. Since then, he scored just one goal from 25 league appearances for Madrid.

Luciano Vietto also spent parts of two season on loan in Spain, first with Sevilla and then Valencia. The striker found goals hard to come by during these stints as well.

While in Seville, Vietto found the back of the net ten times from 31 appearances across all competitions. Similarly, he scored just five from 18 matches in Valencia.

Will He Find New Life?

Luciano Vietto is not without talent. While he is diminutive, standing just five feet eight inches, the Argentine is pacey and possesses good dribbling abilities.

The striker is known to make good runs in behind opponent defences but is also comfortable dropping deep to help link play between midfield and attack.

Diego Simeone said of Vietto, “He is fast, makes smart moves and shoots the ball well with both feet.”

New Faces, New Fortunes?

Luciano Vietto joins a plethora of new names at Craven Cottage. Jean-Michel Serri, Aleksandr Mitrovic and Alfie Mawson have all signed on permanent deals.

Meanwhile, their ranks are further swelled by loan signings. Vietto will be joined in attack by Andre Schurrle, also spending the season on loan. Calum Chambers and Timothy Fosu-Mensah joined from Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester United to help anchor the backline.

Fulham fans will, of course, hope that all these new names will mean new Premier League fortunes for their side.
