Jordan Ayew Signs for Crystal Palace

Premier League Return

He first entered the Premier League with Aston Villa in 2015, but they were relegated after his first season there. He left in 2017 to join Swansea City and suffered the same fate. In his career, he has made eighty Premier League appearances, scoring 15 goals and notching five assists. This is a decent return and one that will benefit Palace greatly. He is a proven player capable of helping to reach that goal tally. His downside is his fiery temperament, with two red cards signifying his darker side. However, sometimes this kind of fight is what a club requires.

Crystal Palace have already made three signings, and this will be the fourth. They should overcome the benchmark of their eleventh placed finish last season. Midtable mediocrity is not attractive for any club, except for those happy to escape relegation. Ayew is a decent player who could help to raise Palace to a higher finish. With their signings so far, they have strengthened their goalkeeping position and sections of their midfield. Jordan Ayew helps to bolster their attacking options. He takes the responsibility in the goalscoring for his teams, leading Swansea’s goalscoring charts last season. Thus, he should be able to deliver the goods at Crystal Palace too.

Loan Only

Palace have made a good deal in grabbing Ayew on loan. He has the opportunity to prove himself and get some Premier League minutes. If he excels, then the club may well make a move to make the deal permanent. Conversely, a poor season will simply mean that he returns to Swansea and Palace will be rid of him. This is a low-risk transfer with only reward to gain. Hodgson gains another valuable member of his squad, helping to insure against injuries and suspension and a long Premier League season.

All in all, it looks a good move for Ayew and Palace. Swansea will be disappointed with his attitude and departure though. In the Championship, he would have been a weapon to help spur them back to the Premier League. Perhaps this move may motivate him to help his club. Or maybe the only help he’ll provide is a decent transfer sum to spend on his own replacement.
