David Wagner has signed a new three-year contract with Huddersfield Town. The German has been instrumental in the Terriers’ recent success in gaining promotion to the Premier League and retaining that status.
Huddersfield Seal New Deal For David Wagner
Having steered Huddersfield Town to promotion to the Premier League via the playoffs, and then keeping the team in the top flight, when all the predictions were straight relegation, German head coach David Wagner has penned a new contract with the Terriers.
The news will not be a surprise to the Terriers fans. The club announced on Saturday that Olaf Rebbe would be joining as Sporting Director from 1st June. This was a big part of David Wagner’s plan to build a team around himself.
Wagner and Chairman Dean Hoyle have built up a very trusting relationship, with the latter being very relaxed in the press over the future of the German. Wagner has been committed to the Terriers since walking through the doors back in November 2015.
What Does This Mean For Huddersfield
The Terriers will not have to be looking for a new head coach/manager anytime soon. This also lays to rest all the rumours in the press that the German would be leaving Yorkshire, with several clubs having been reportedly interested in Wagner away.
Huddersfield have plans for the development of their training ground, Canalside. The German will be a very big part of re-development. Having secured the services of Wagner for a further <blank> Town can look forward to another season in the Premier League.
Now that the Head Coach has penned this new deal, it allows them to concentrate on the important matter of strengthening their squad to compete in the Premier League. The Terriers will hope to follow the Bournemouth model and become a mainstay in the top flight after 40+ years away until the promotion back.
