Team News, Form and Predicted Line-Up as Oxford United Welcome Sheffield Wednesday

Oxford United welcome Sheffield Wednesday in their final home game of the season knowing they need two wins to have any chance of staying up.

The U’s have lost back-to-back games for the first time under Matt Bloomfield when they really couldn’t afford to. They came against Derby and Wrexham who themselves are both pushing for the playoffs but Blackburn’s win at Sheffield United on Wednesday all-but sealed Oxford’s fate. The U’s need to win their remaining two fixtures while they are relying on Charlton to lose both of theirs after they lost against Ipswich.

Team News, Form and Predicted Line-Up

Wednesday, who were relegated back in February with 13 league games still remaining, have managed just one win all season. The Owls have amassed just 15 points and head into this fixture on -3 points following their 18 point deduction. They’ve also scored a division-low 26 goals and conceded a division-high 84 goals.

Tyler Goodrham, Brian De Keersmaecker, Przemyslaw Placheta and Nik Prelec remain sidelined while Jack Currie also looks to be left on the sidelines.

Svante Ingelsson, Ike Ugbo, Di’Shon Bernard, Liam Cooper, George Brown, Ernie Weaver and Guilherme Siqueira are all out for the struggling Owls.

Oxford won the reverse fixture at Hillsborough, which was the first game following Wednesday’s administration and subsequent end of Dejphon Chansiri’s repulsive ownership. The U’s have won the last two meetings but did lose the last time the Owls visited Grenoble Road.

Matt Bloomfield has faced Wednesday once when his Luton side were held to a draw at Hillsborough.
