Arne Slot Names ‘Three Clear Priorities’ for Liverpool

Liverpool’s 2025/26 season has been anything but straightforward. Disappointing losses and wild inconsistencies have left fans frustrated. Expectations were high ahead of the new signings, but the tragic death of Diogo Jota understandably affected the whole squad. Summer signings have struggled to settle, with Arne Slot’s team currently in sixth place. With opportunities for success this season dwindling, the Reds boss has revealed “three clear priorities” for the remainder of the season.

Currently sixth in the table, Liverpool still have a chance of a top-four finish. Their last five Premier League games have yielded a return of two wins, two defeats and one draw.

They finished third in the league phase of the Champions League and are set to face Brighton on February 14 in the FA Cup fourth round.

Looking ahead to the remainder of the season, Slot revealed where they are focusing:

“We have three clear priorities this season, FA Cup, Champions League qualification and Champions League. But we are also aware of the limited options I have in terms of the squad.”

Slot Discusses Load Management Problems

Discussing load management worries, Slot said:

“So the load management I have is important because the last thing we need right now is another injury, so that is always the difficult thing for a manager, other than performance, with the medical staff, what is the best decision to make every time.

“It is also true that it wouldn’t be the first time a player gets injured if they have to play three games in seven days. But is also happened many, many times that a player could play three games in seven days.

“So that is the challenge we are having and the most important thing is we have to train today, see how the players are doing, listen to how they feel and then make the best decisions,” said Slot.

It remains to be seen if Liverpool can end this season on a positive note. Whatever happens, it looks set to be an interesting summer at Anfield.
