Arsenal’s 2025/26 season has been memorable thus far, sitting three points clear at the top of the Premier League, with Manchester City beating Fulham 3-0 at the time of writing. Their defence has been watertight, with the attack more often than not doing enough to get the three points. The Gunners return to Premier League action on February 12, against London rivals Brentford. Arteta was asked about if we will see Mikel Merino before the end of the season:
“I think the doctors were really happy with the way [the surgery] went. Now it’s the start of, obviously, a long process; we’re talking about bone healing. So, we’ll respect the timings, and I’m sure he’s going to do everything he possibly can to speed up that recovery. The timeframes we’re talking about are months – whether it’s three, four or five, we don’t know.”
The Athletic have also reported that Kai Havertz has sustained a muscular injury, and will be missing from the game and seemingly for some time.
