Oxford United Welcome Middlesbrough

Team News, Form and Predicted Line-Up

As for Boro, they began life without Rob Edwards at the helm with a win over Birmingham. The North Yorkshire outfit have lost just once in their last six league games. Middlesbrough are set to appoint Hammarby IF boss Kim Hellberg as their new head coach following Edwards’ departure to Wolves at the start of the international break.

Oxford are without Matt Phillips and Brodie Spencer for this game while Jack Currie is still a doubt after picking up a knock in that draw against Millwall.

Boro have several injury concerns, including Abdoulaye Kante, Dael Fry, Matt Targett, George Edmondson, Darragh Lenihan and Seny Dieng. However, Alfie Jones is available after serving his one-game suspension for a red card he picked up against Leicester.

Oxford lost both fixtures against Boro last season, with this one finishing 6-2 to the visiting side under Des Buckingham. In fact, the U’s have lost the last six and are without a win in 11, losing nine.

Gary Rowett has an inconsistent record against Middlesbrough, with four wins, six draws and five defeats when facing this club. His Oxford side narrowly lost 2-1 at the Riverside last season but that was just one of two defeats from the last seven.
