Five managers Wolves Could Bring In If Vítor Pereira Is Sacked

Wolverhampton Wanderers are under pressure. If the club moves on from Vítor Pereira, they’ll be looking for a capable replacement who can handle Premier League survival, deliver results quickly, and ideally bring some ambition for the medium term. Here are five managers Wolves could appoint should they sack Pereira.

Five managers Wolves could appoint if Pereira is sacked

5. Bruno Lage

A return for Bruno Lage would undoubtedly split opinion among the Wolves fanbase. The Portuguese coach, who previously led the club between 2021-2022, delivered moments of attractive football but ultimately left amid inconsistency, a lack of goals, and declining form. However, Lage’s understanding of the club and its culture could make him a logical short-term solution. He is tactically astute, prefers possession-based football, and previously got Wolves playing progressive football before things started to unravel.

He went on to win the Portuguese League Cup and Super Cup with Benfica after leaving Molineux, and a second spell might allow him to build on the lessons from his first, particularly now the club’s expectations are different. That said, his appointment could be perceived as a backwards step unless Wolves’ hierarchy is convinced he can deliver something new this time around.

4. Kevin Muscat

Perhaps a bit of a wildcard choice, Kevin Muscat is a name that will resonate with Wolves fans. The Australian, a former Wolves player who made over 150 appearances for the club between 1997-2002, has built an impressive managerial career since hanging up his boots. Most recently in charge of Yokohama F. Marinos in Japan, Muscat won the J1 League and developed a reputation for high-tempo, attacking football.

His proposed move to Scottish giants Rangers recently collapsed, according to Sky Sports, leaving him free to consider offers from elsewhere. While he lacks managerial experience in the Premier League, his success abroad and an emotional connection with the club could inspire both players and fans alike. If the board is willing to take a calculated risk, Muscat could be the bold, forward-thinking choice that reignites belief at Molineux.

3. Roberto Mancini

If Wolves want to make a statement, Roberto Mancini would certainly do that. The Italian guided Manchester City to their first Premier League title in 2012 and has since enjoyed international success with Italy, winning Euro 2020. After leaving his role with the Saudi Arabia national team, Mancini is reportedly open to returning to club management

His blend of tactical acumen, experience, and pedigree would bring immediate respect to the Wolves dressing room. However, Mancini is used to working with larger budgets and elite squads, which could make this a challenging fit. Financially and structurally, Wolves would need to commit heavily to match his ambitions. Still, if the board wants to project ambition and raise standards, Mancini represents a bold and high-profile choice.
