Leeds United’s next challenge sees them face fourth-placed Tottenham at Elland Road, where the newly-promoted side will hope to go toe to toe with one of the Premier League’s “big six.” The Whites conceded an agonising late equaliser against Bournemouth last time out, despite playing brilliantly all game, and will be desperate to take all three points against the North Londoners.

How Leeds Have Lined Up Recently
Karl Darlow has now started Leeds’ last three games due to an injury to Lucas Perri, and the Welshman has earned plaudits for his fantastic performances in the United goal. The former Newcastle man has been nominated for September’s Premier League Save of the Month for his acrobatic late stop against Fulham, and couldn’t have done any more to showcase his quality in between the sticks.

Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk remain the first-choice centre-back pairing, with new signing Jaka Bijol yet to see a minute of Premier League action. Rodon’s headed goal against the Cherries further highlighted his aerial threat from dead-ball situations, which Leeds are keen to exploit this season.

At full-back, Daniel Farke’s selections have been similarly consistent, with Jayden Bogle and Gabriel Gudmundsson firmly first pick. In midfield, the physical, hard-tackling trio of Ethan Ampadu, Sean Longstaff, and Anton Stach appear to be gelling fantastically, and are a seriously difficult proposition for any opposing midfield to deal with.
Out wide, injuries have left Farke with little depth to choose from, and the German coach seems to have settled on the hard graft of Brenden Aaronson and the magnetic, dancing feet of Noah Okafor as his preferred combination. Up front, praise has been heaped on Dominic Calvert-Lewin, whose physicality, aerial presence, and deft touch make him the perfect striker for a newly-promoted side, although there is a bit of work to do in the finishing department.
Leeds Recent Form and Tactics
After managing just one goal in their opening four league games, Leeds have now scored five in their last two, all of which have come from different goalscorers. What has been particularly positive is that the Whites have come from behind in both games, highlighting their mental resilience and ability to launch fightbacks.

However, one area in which Farke’s side have struggled slightly is their ability to defend set-pieces. Four of the nine goals that United have conceded have come from dead-ball situations, and this has led some to highlight the club’s decision not to hire a specialist set-piece coach as one that may need reviewing as the season goes on.
Leeds Absences to Consider
Winger Daniel James is expected to be out for four to six weeks after suffering an ankle injury in training. Fellow wide man Willy Gnonto is also not in contention for the Spurs game as he recovers from a calf issue.
Darlow should keep his place in net, with Perri not yet fit to start despite returning to team training this week.
