Manchester United vs Chelsea Confirmed Lineups for September 20

These are the confirmed lineups for Manchester United vs Chelsea in the late Saturday game. The Blues enter this after a crushing 3-1 loss to Bayern Munich in midweek and look more vulnerable than the imperious unit that won the Club World Cup just months ago. They face a wayward Red Devils squad who have continued to find new lows since a shocking cup loss to Grimsby Town. Despite that, it has been 12 years since Chelsea won a league match at Old Trafford, a curse they’ll need to undo soon or they risk a third consecutive match without a win.

Manchester United Team News

Altay Bayindir remains in goal with a back line of Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Noussair Mazraoui, and Patrick Dorgu. Casemiro is in midfield with Bruno Fernandes as Benjamin Sesko is up front, flanked by Bryan Mbuemo and Amad Diallo.

Notable Changes

The veteran presence of Maguire comes in for Leny Yoro while the attacking trio doesn’t welcome back either Mason Mount or Matheus Cunha, both are on the bench after missing the last outing with injury. Casemiro returns to the lineup for Manuel Ugarte.

Chelsea Team News

Robert Sanches starts in goal with a back line of Reece James, Trevoh Chalobah, Wesley Fofana, and Marc Cucurella. Moises Caicedo partners Enzo Fernandez in defensive midfield with Estevao, Cole Palmer, Pedro Neto, and Joao Pedro leading the charge.

Notable Changes

Biggest change comes in the central pairing as Chalobah and Fofana are the chosed duo with Tosin Adarabioyo missing out. It’s a rare start at right-back for Reece James, which could be used to help in build-up with Cucurella pushing forward to support the very attacking front four.
