Wrexham Predicted Lineup vs Sheffield Wednesday for August 23

This is a Wrexham predicted lineup for their upcoming EFL Championship game as they search for their first league win of the season. They take on a winless Sheffield Wednesday who are also in the cavern of 0-point teams, currently sitting at the bottom of the table. Following a week off, they’ll have to juggle with the EFL Cup in midweek which could lead to some rotation in the lineup.

How Wrexham Have Lined Up Recently

Danny Ward and Arthur Okonkwo have shared goalkeeping duties across competitions. Max Cleworth, Lewis Brunt, Connor Coady, Eoghan O’Connell, Dan Scarr, and Aaron James have all started as centre-backs. Ryan Longman, James McClean, Ryan Barnett, and Liberato Cacace have played as the wing-backs.

In midfield, Matty James, Lewis O’Brien, George Dobson, Harry Ashfield, George Evans, and Elliot Lee have featured in the usual trio. Ahead of them Sam Smith and Ryan Hardie partnered as the strikers in cup action while Josh Windass plays off Kieffer Moore usually.

Wrexham Recent Form & Tactics

While the idea changes a little based on personnel, Phil Parkinson sets up in either a 3-5-2 or 3-5-1-1 formation. They are comfortable playing without the ball, giving up a lot of possession in their season opener to Southampton, but the West Brom match saw them win the possession battle so they are comfortable playing with the ball as well.

They have yet to win a match in regulation this season, their only victory came in a penalty shootout against Hull City. Their defence has been quite leaky, letting in eight goals so far, but on a positive note they have a pretty efficient goalscoring touch. They scored twice with just three shots on target in their previous outing, with that kind of clinical nature, they’ll no doubt fire their way to a win soon.

Wrexham Injuries to Consider

The manager has some headaches to deal with. Windass went off injured and is expected to miss a few matches. He joins Andy Cannon, Ollie Rathbone, George Thomason, Jay Rodriguez, and Cacace on the sidelines.
