Following a disappointing Carabao Cup exit, full-back James Justin could be the next name to leave Leicester City. The Luton Town academy graduate made his move to the East Midlands back in the summer of 2019, after a stellar League One campaign. Although he dealt with injury setbacks, Justin still shone for the Foxes and even gained an England cap. With the Championship season underway, he remains an option for Premier League clubs.
Leicester City Full-Back Linked With Premier League Move
James Justin: Premier League Target
As reported by Beren Cross, Leeds United hold an interest in Justin. The defender played a pivotal role in City’s 2023/24 championship campaign, which saw Enzo Maresca’s side edge out the Whites to claim their eighth second-tier title. After struggles last season, the Englishman could see a chance to exit and continue his Premier League career.
Daniel Farke’s side return to the Premier League after two seasons in the second tier, and have looked to strengthen. Anton Stach and Lucas Nmecha are among the club’s latest recruits; however, they now set their sights on a full-back. Justin can play off either flank, and his being so “versatile” is crucial to improving squad depth.

The growing number of departures for the Foxes includes Mads Hermansen, Wilfred Ndidi and Conor Coady. Rumours of Bilal El Khannouss, Harry Winks and others following suit have also emerged, which would further add to Marti Cifuentes’ task of rebuilding.
How Does This Affect Leicester City
Despite the issues faced last season, Justin would still be a loss to the East Midlands outfit. He is someone who is adaptable and can play multiple roles. His most recent campaign highlighted this as he could invert, play high or even in a back three during possession. The output Justin provides could also be valuable to Cifuentes. Last season at QPR, Jimmy Dunne found the net on five occasions, which suggests full-backs are integral to his system.

Furthermore, with many of City’s players linked with moves, retaining proven talents is also important. In the first two games of this new era, Cifuentes’ side has struggled and had to rely on big moments to earn results. This is no surprise due to the lack of movement in the transfer window, but selling more players isn’t ideal, especially if they suit the system.
On the other hand, if Leeds do act on their interest, it could also be positive. It would reduce the wage bill and open up space for a new option. It has been clear throughout the summer that the club need to sell before buying, and Justin would be a valuable asset due to his age and experience.
