Since arriving in the Midlands two years ago, Abdul Fatawu has been a revelation for Leicester City. The Ghanaian winger arrived from Sporting Lisbon and put the Championship on notice, as he tallied 20 goal contributions in his debut campaign. This led to a permanent move the following season as City geared up for their return to the top division. Although he missed out on much of the campaign due to injury, Fatawu is back to his best in pre-season, and therefore, interest in him comes as no surprise.
Premier League Side Targeting Leicester City Star
Abdul Fatawu: Premier League Return?
As reported by Alan Myers, Fatawu is an option within Everton’s list of targets. The Toffees have shown great ambition throughout this summer, as Thierno Barry, Jack Grealish and Kiernan Dewsbury Hall all arrived for the inaugural term at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Fellow Championship winger Tyler Dibling has also been a target for the side, although a deal has since stalled. Therefore, interest in Fatawu makes sense as he is young and offers major potential long-term. The ACL injury hasn’t been an issue thus far, and a stellar display versus Sheffield Wednesday suggests he is back to his best.

The links between Fatawu and Everton see him join the long list of Foxes players who could depart. Bilal El Khannouss, Caleb Okoli and Harry Winks remain targets for a multitude of clubs, whilst Conor Coady, Wilfred Ndidi and Mads Hermansen have already departed.
How Does This Affect Leicester City?
During preparations for the season, Fatawu showed once again why he is key to Marti Cifuentes’ system. The winger was integral to both goals versus Fiorentina, as his pressing and explosiveness were too much for the opposition. Similarly, against the Owls, he was once again a threat and subsequently, the visitors had to double up on him constantly. As a result, a move away would be detrimental for City’s season as they may struggle to find a replacement.

However, the Foxes still have options within the squad, and due to this, a sale could help strengthen other positions. Jeremy Monga has emerged as one of the top English talents and could be the right profile to replace Fatawu. In addition, Kasey McAteer, Jordan Ayew and Bobby Decordova Reid can all play out wide. Not to mention the array of wide men from the academy, as Jake Evans, Will Alves and Silko Thomas are all hungry for first-team minutes.
