Leicester City Transfer Update Following the Arrival of Marti Cifuentes

Despite the long-awaited arrival of Marti Cifuentes, two Leicester City stars remain likely to depart, amid updates on their situations. The Spanish manager joins from a two-season stint with QPR, where he kept them in the second tier at both times of asking. However, a looming point deduction and another relegation suggest an influential duo could be on their way out.

Leicester City Transfer Update

Two Stars Likely To Leave

As reported by Rob Dorsett, Wilfred Ndidi is now more likely to move to the Bundesliga, as opposed to the Premier League. Several clubs, such as Mainz and Hoffenheim, hold interest in the midfielder, especially due to the appealing £9m release clause.

Jamie Vardy’s recent exit from the Foxes leaves Ndidi as the team’s longest-serving player at the moment. As he nears his ninth term, it comes as no surprise that a departure is likely, after yet another relegation this past season.

On the other hand, fellow midfielder Bilal El Khannouss could also be on his way out. The 21-year-old proved to be a key asset over the past campaign, as he tallied over 2,000 league minutes and five goal contributions. Therefore, Dorsett adds that a fee of over £25m would be necessary for the club to consider selling the Moroccan International. Interest comes from across the Premier League, and at this fee, it could prove to be a steal.

How This Would Affect Leicester City

With the arrival of Cifuentes, there have already been reports that the club need to sell before adding to the already dense squad. Due to this, selling Ndidi and El Khannouss may be necessary to strengthen other areas.

For example, a new striker will remain a priority throughout the summer, amid Patson Daka’s struggles and Jake Evans’ inexperience. The new manager may also want new profiles in several positions, so that his players naturally fit his system.

However, losing both players could also be detrimental after their influence last season. The duo were both within the top seven players for league minutes last season, and seemed to come alive in victories versus West Ham and Southampton.
