Manchester United are riding on a high after moving into the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League semifinal with a dramatic 5-4 (7-6 on aggregate) win in the quarterfinal over Lyon. They also seem to be actively planning their business in the 2025 summer transfer window and have a keen interest in Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo.

How Much Might United Have to Pay for Semenyo?
Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas has reported that the Red Devils are “believed to be the current frontrunners” for the signing of the 25-year-old forward in the summer window. It’s also stated that Ruben Amorim is a big admirer of Semenyo’s abilities and already has an idea of how he can fit into United’s attacking line for the 2025/26 campaign.

Thomas also claims that Bournemouth will not be willing to let Semenyo leave that easily and they might end up demanding as high as £70 million for the winger’s sale in the summer window. However, it’s also stated that they could accept a low fixed transfer with easily achievable add-ons to make up that amount, similar to what they had agreed with Tottenham Hotspur for the sale of Dominic Solanke for £65 million in the 2024 summer window.
Thomas also claims that the Red Devils can expect to face stiff competition from multiple clubs for Semenyo’s signing. It’s stated that Liverpool are interested in him, after they reportedly scouted him earlier this season, while Tottenham Hotspur are also keen on a possible move in the summer window.
How Could Semenyo Fit in at United?
Semenyo joined Bournemouth in the January 2023 transfer window from Bristol City and has been a solid fit for Andoni Iraola’s system. The Englishman is enjoying a pretty prolific 2024/25 season with the Cherries, scoring ten goals and provided six assists across all competitions this season, including eight goals and five assists in 31 Premier League matches. He can play both as a left winger and on the right-wing with ease, which is why the winger is attracting so much interest from Old Trafford.

He may be deployed as one of the wide attacking midfielders in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 system, or could even be played as one of the wing-backs, adding more creativity and energy on the wide areas for the Red Devils. However, it’s clear that Semenyo, who was hailed as a “powerful lad” earlier this season, won’t be available for cheap and the Red Devils must pay big bucks to get the deal done.
