After the lengthy international break, Leicester City returned to action with yet another defeat. The Foxes have now lost seven consecutive games after Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City dominated from the off last time out. This Monday, April 7, Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side will take on Newcastle United. Here is the Leicester Predicted Lineup to take on Eddie Howe’s top-four chasing squad at the King Power Stadium.

How Leicester Have Lined Up Recently

Last time out, the Foxes utilised their five-at-the-back system once again, but it came with little success. In between the sticks, Mads Hermansen reprised his role as the Foxes’ shot-stopper as his error led to the home side’s second goal of the night. Wout Faes, Conor Coady, and Luke Thomas all starred in the centre-back roles, whilst Victor Kristiansen and James Justin started as wing-backs on their respective sides.

Meanwhile, a midfield duo of Wilfred Ndidi and Boubakary Soumaré also started, but this may have been due to an off-pitch issue between Harry Winks and his manager. Bilal El Khannouss and Patson Daka then played further forward, with 38-year-old Jamie Vardy leading the line on the 27th occasion this campaign. The system and profiles were severely flawed in the Wednesday night fixture as Oliver Skipp and many others came off the bench, but also struggled.

Leicester Recent Form and Tactics

The Manchester City game was more of the same for a Leicester side that looks incredibly out of their depth in the top division. The home side made it look easy throughout as they opened the scoring in the 2nd minute. Jack Grealish’s goal was then added to just before the 30th minute by Omar Marmoush.

Defensively, the Foxes couldn’t handle City’s attacks as they conceded 18 shots and an expected goal tally of 2.24. Meanwhile, going forward, they also weren’t good enough, as just two shots were managed.

It has now become evident that Van Nistelrooy is also out of his depth, especially with his refusal to be adaptive and make changes. The same lineup that was dominated by Manchester United two weeks ago started once again and showed little change in terms of performance.

Relegation is now inevitable for the record-breaking Foxes, who have failed to score in their last seven games. The Dutchman’s side still sits 19th in the league, and 15 points adrift from survival with eight games to go.
