Bayern Munich won the Bavarian derby by 3-1 on Friday night against FC Augsburg. Unfortunately, however, they once again paid very dearly for that win, as their possibly most consistent “star” performer, Jamal Musiala, suffered a potentially season-ending injury in the game. He left the field in the 54th minute of play. Now the nature of the Musiala injury is known.

Bayern Munich Will Be Without Phenomenal Playmaker “for the Time Being “
On Saturday afternoon, the club confirmed that Musiala had suffered a muscle tear in his left hamstring and will be out for “the time being”. The statement did not specify how long the Bavarians must go without their number 42.
It could be that the German international wouldn’t return until a potential Champions League final in their home stadium.

However, any hopes that Bayern may reach that final are optimistic at best and utopian at worst, given the long list of injuries that the German record champions have been having to endure recently.
Musiala Injury Only Latest of Many to a Key Player
Team captain Manuel Neuer has been out for weeks and will miss the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal tie against Italian giants Inter. Furthermore, as we reported recently, Dayot Upamecano and Alphonso Davies will miss the rest of the season.
The same can also be said of Hiroki Ito, who was amongst those favoured to replace Davies at left back, only to seriously injure his foot for the second time this term. Meanwhile, Aleksandar Pavlovic is slowly returning from an infection that has sidelined him for weeks as well.

Nonetheless, the Musiala injury has hit the Bavarians the hardest, as he was one of their most dangerous players on the pitch all season. Musiala scored 18 goals and had eight assists in all competitions. Bayern will certainly miss him dearly.
