Chelsea vs Wolves confirmed lineups - image of Enzo Maresca with Pedro Neto

Chelsea Predicted Lineup vs Southampton for February 25

This is a Chelsea Predicted lineup for their second match in three days as they take on a struggling Southampton side, although the Blues’ own form is dismal with their own form in the last 10 being poor enough to land them just outside the relegation zone on form tables. With the slight congestion we could see some surprises with youngsters like Tyrique George and Josh Acheampong likely to eye up starting spots.

How Chelsea Have Lined Up Recently

Filip Jorgensen and Rob Sanchez have been sharing goalkeeping duties although they both look equally incapable of keeping a clean sheet regardless. The back four has featured Malo Gusto, Levi Colwill, Trevoh Chalobah, Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Cucurella, and Reece James. James stepped into midfield last time out where we usually see Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall offering a fresh body to run around aimlessly at times.

In attack, Enzo seemed to move into the attacking side of midfield last time out with Pedro Neto, Cole Palmer, Jadon Sancho, Noni Madueke, and Christopher Nkunku trying to fill out the front four in the absence of a recognised striker.

Chelsea Recent Form and Tactics

Enzo Maresca has continued to use his 4-2-3-1 into a  3-2-4-1 setup although he appeared to make a tweak last time out. The team looked a little more like a fluid 4-3-3 with James moving into midfield, Palmer as the inverted right player, and Gusto pushing up as almost a right wing-back. It also featured Neto as the false nine which looked more effective than playing Nkunku up front.

Despite that tweak, they still lost to Aston Villa 2-1 and continued their poor run of form that started around Christmas Day. Worryingly, they play well enough to take leads but are prone to dropping points, especially due to their defensive frailty that has seen them quickly become one of the least imposing defences in the entire league.

Chelsea Injuries to Consider

The manager confirmed one new absentee in his pre-match conference as Chalobah is set to miss about 10 days of action. He joins Noni Madueke, Nicolas Jackson, Marc Guiu, Romeo Lavia, Wesley Fofana, and Benoit Badiashile on the sidelines with Mykhailo Mudryk still suspended.
